LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Additional Commissioner Shehzad Mehmood Gondal was transferred on Tuesday to be placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.
Assistant Director Audit FBR Zaka Ullah was also transferred and his services were placed at the disposal of the provincial government.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division, Gondal, a BS-19 officer of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS), will be posted in the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) on deputation basis on standard terms and conditions with immediate effect and until further orders.
Gondal, who is younger brother of martyred Senior Superintendent of Police Zahid Mehmood Gondal (who has been awarded Sitara-e-Shujat by the President of Pakistan recently), has already served the PRA and is among the pioneers of the authority’s establishment and its functioning since 2012.
He is credited with the launch of the Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System (RIMS) and bringing food businesses, construction services, real estate sector and recreational facilities.
According to a statement, Gondal said he would be discharging his duties with renewed commitment.
Gondal was of the view that the PRA had enormous potential to tap tax revenues from different services and that he would adopt more professional approach to discover more revenues from the sectors he would be covering.
FBR Zaka Ullah, who remained the part of Shehzad’s Gondal’s team in PRA, is also credited with making the PRA strengthened revenue-wise.
Sources in the PRA said that induction of two officers would help address scarcity of field officers.
They added that the authority was facing a shortage of experienced and dedicated officers.
