ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the decision of granting party ticket to anyone is made by the parliamentary board of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Rejecting the claim made by former information minister Pervaiz Rashid that former interior minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan cannot contest elections on a PML-N ticket, the PM House in a statement said that no one person takes decision on issuing party tickets for elections. “Rather there is a board that makes this decision in consultation with the party leaders,” the statement said. “The decision will not be made by one person … it will be taken after discussions with a special board which is formed to determine the issue of party tickets,” it added.
“The future of Ch Nisar in the PML-N will be decided by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and now Nisar has to choose whether he wants to stay in the party or go down a different path,” Pervaiz Rashid had claimed a day earlier. According to the former information minister, the PML-N was preparing to go into the general elections this year with the same strategy that it was currently pursuing and had no plans to change or abandon it.
