Amid rifts in party over allotments of tickets, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Jehangir Khan Tareen has left for London today.
Tareen is reportedly unhappy with the distribution of tickets among candidates in South Punjab for the general elections.
According to reports, the party leadership did not award tickets to candidates recommended by the party’s former secretary general.
Tareen’s leaving for London ahead of elections raised many questions regarding his participation in PTI’s election campaign.
Tareen quoted health issues as reason for his sudden departure and linked his come back with the permission of his doctors in London.
However, it is unclear if Tareen would take part in party’s campaign for general elections or not.
The differences between PTI’s former secretary general Jehangir Tareen and the party’s Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi were out in the open when the two exchanged barbs over the allotment of party tickets.
Qureshi in a news conference targeted Tareen’s disqualification saying the later is no more in the game, so no question of differences arises.
Responding to Qureshi, Tareen said the vice-chairman should concentrate on resolving reservations of people of his own constituency before blaming others.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s comment on the matter is still awaited.
